September 04, 2026 11:42📊 $2.845B in crypto options expire: BTC trades far above max pain
A major options expiry is scheduled for today at 16:00 UTC on Deribit. The contracts have a combined value of $2.845 billion.
Bitcoin options account for $2.495 billion of the total. Their put/call ratio stands at 0.61, while the max pain level is $72,000.
Ethereum options represent another $350 million. Their put/call ratio is 0.89, with max pain currently at $2,400.
Both cryptocurrencies are trading well above these levels. Bitcoin remains above $80,000, while Ethereum is holding above $2,500.
🎯 Bitcoin: strong call dominance could increase volatility
The BTC put/call ratio of 0.61 shows a clear preference for call options. The current Bitcoin price is more than $9,000 above its $72,000 max pain level.
This large gap means many call contracts are already deep in the money. Market makers may need to adjust their hedges as expiration approaches.
Such positioning can amplify short-term price movements. Volatility may increase around the settlement period, especially if BTC continues trading far above max pain.
⚖️ Ethereum: positioning remains closer to neutral
Ethereum shows a more balanced options market. Its 0.89 put/call ratio is much closer to parity.
ETH is trading roughly $100–150 above its $2,400 max pain level. This difference is considerably smaller than the gap seen in Bitcoin.
As a result, the expiry could have a more limited impact on Ethereum. However, sudden movements in BTC could still affect ETH through broader market correlations.
The key factor is not simply the size of the expiry. The distance between the current price and max pain also matters.
With Bitcoin significantly above its pain point, BTC could experience stronger hedging flows. Ethereum appears less exposed to this effect.

September 04, 2026 11:43💰 Binance sees $1B stablecoin inflow, but yearly outflows reach $5.1B
Binance recorded more than $1 billion in net stablecoin inflows during August. This marked the first modest improvement in exchange liquidity after months of weaker flows.
However, the monthly inflow remains small compared with the broader market trend. Stablecoin balances across major exchanges have continued to decline throughout the year.
Since January, Binance has recorded approximately $5.1 billion in net stablecoin outflows. That figure represents around 71% of the total stablecoin outflows recorded across major exchanges.
More than $16 billion in stablecoins has left major exchange reserves during the same period.
📊 What the latest flows indicate
• August brought a $1B+ net inflow to Binance
• Binance has lost around $5.1B in stablecoins since January
• Major exchanges have seen over $16B leave their reserves
• Binance accounts for roughly 71% of the measured outflows
⚠️ Liquidity remains the main concern
Stablecoins are often viewed as readily available liquidity for crypto markets. When large amounts remain on exchanges, they can potentially be deployed into Bitcoin, Ethereum, or other assets.
The opposite trend is now becoming more visible. Stablecoins are leaving centralized exchanges rather than accumulating there.
This suggests that investors are moving capital away from trading platforms. The funds may be entering other parts of the financial system or simply leaving crypto altogether.
The August inflow therefore offers a small positive signal. However, it is not yet large enough to confirm a broader liquidity recovery.
For the market to regain stronger momentum, stablecoin reserves would likely need to stabilize first. A sustained return of capital to exchanges could then provide a stronger foundation for renewed buying activity.

September 04, 2026 11:44A thaw in the crypto market: what it means and why it may not last
August 2026 became Bitcoin’s strongest month in more than a year and a half. BTC gained around 25%, giving investors fresh hope for the end of the crypto winter.
The sudden recovery raises an important question. Is this the beginning of a genuine market thaw, or simply a temporary rebound?
What does a crypto thaw mean?
A crypto thaw describes a market recovery after an extended period of declines and stagnation. Prices begin rising, investor activity increases, and liquidity starts returning.
It is essentially the opposite of a crypto winter. A thaw suggests that market conditions are gradually becoming more constructive.
Several developments in August support that interpretation.
Bitcoin posts an unusual August rally
Bitcoin’s August performance looks particularly impressive from a historical perspective. Since 2013, BTC has finished August higher only five times out of fourteen.
August has also been one of Bitcoin’s weakest months historically. Its median return is close to -7%, making it the worst-performing month by this measure.
A strong August rally therefore stands out. Breaking this seasonal pattern can strengthen investor confidence, especially after a prolonged downturn.
Trump adds a bullish narrative
Political developments also improved sentiment. On August 19, Donald Trump met with representatives from the crypto industry at the White House.
He called on Congress to move forward with the CLARITY Act. The legislation aims to clarify the responsibilities of the SEC and CFTC.
It also addresses important questions surrounding stablecoin yield mechanisms. Trump argued that clearer rules could help the US maintain its technological advantage over China.
He also highlighted the importance of making Hyperliquid compatible with US regulations. The CFTC has been working on this issue.
However, none of these proposals had been implemented by early September. The positive rhetoric still provided an important psychological boost.
Treasury buybacks strengthen risk appetite
Another major catalyst came from US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
He announced plans to at least double government debt buybacks. The program covers Treasury securities with maturities between 10 and 30 years.
The target could reach $4 billion. The announcement had an immediate impact on financial markets.
Between August 19 and 21, more than $2 billion worth of crypto short positions were liquidated. Forced buying helped accelerate Bitcoin’s upward move.
Bitcoin ETFs attract fresh capital
Institutional flows provide another reason for optimism. Spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $3.52 billion during August.
That was their strongest monthly inflow since September 2025.
The combination of stronger ETF demand, improved liquidity, and positive regulatory rhetoric created favorable conditions for Bitcoin.
Still, one strong month does not automatically confirm a new bull market.
The August rally provides evidence of a possible crypto thaw. Whether it develops into a sustained rally will depend on liquidity, institutional demand, macroeconomic conditions, and regulatory progress.
For now, the market has clearly moved away from the extreme pessimism seen earlier. The bigger question is whether this recovery can survive after the initial momentum fades.

September 04, 2026 11:46Bitcoin Could Reach $840,000 by 2031, River Analysts Say
Bitcoin could trade between $250,000 and $840,000 within three to five years. That is the latest forecast from analysts at U.S. financial company River.
Their outlook depends on growing institutional and long-term investor demand. River expects investors to assign a larger share of their portfolios to Bitcoin.
Under its scenarios, Bitcoin could attract between $1.3 trillion and $5.3 trillion in new capital. This could push the cryptocurrency's market value to roughly $5.5 trillion to $17.5 trillion.
River stresses that these figures are estimates, not fixed targets. Actual capital inflows could fall below or exceed the projected range.
Why River expects higher Bitcoin allocations
The analysts believe Bitcoin deserves a meaningful position in long-term portfolios. They see 10% as a reasonable starting point for many investors.
However, River does not present 10% as a universal allocation. The appropriate position depends on several personal factors:
* Investment horizon and long-term financial goals
* Ability to tolerate major Bitcoin price swings
* Size of the investor's emergency cash reserve
* Exposure to stocks, bonds, real estate, and other assets
River also expects Bitcoin to become more common in diversified portfolios. In an optimistic long-term scenario, the asset could appear in 20% to 40% of portfolios.
Despite that broad adoption, the average allocation could remain much lower. River estimates an average Bitcoin weighting of around 2% to 4%.
The case against the traditional 60/40 portfolio
River's recommendation also reflects changing conditions in traditional markets. The classic 60% stocks and 40% bonds model has faced new challenges.
High inflation has weakened the role of bonds as a portfolio stabilizer. Rising government debt has added another concern for investors.
The relationship between stocks and bonds has also changed. This can reduce the diversification benefits investors once expected from the 60/40 approach.
Bitcoin therefore offers an alternative source of diversification. Its volatility remains a major risk, however. Large price declines can occur even during long-term growth periods.
Another Bitcoin price target
River's forecast is not the only bullish prediction currently circulating. Veteran trader Peter Brandt previously said Bitcoin could reach $250,000 by 2029.
Brandt based that projection on the assumption that the current market-cycle structure remains intact.
River's projections extend further into the future. They also depend heavily on portfolio adoption and new capital entering the market.
The key factor will be whether investors gradually treat Bitcoin as a standard portfolio asset. If allocations rise substantially, demand could create significant upward pressure on its price.

September 10, 2026 00:02This Bitcoin Bear Market Is Not the Most Severe
Bitcoin's latest bear market has been painful for investors. However, it has not produced the largest realized losses on record.
If July 1, 2026 marked the cycle bottom, the data looks relatively moderate. Growing evidence now supports that date as a potential market low.
Bitcoin's market capitalization had already climbed 742% from the 2022 cycle low to the latest peak. Such a powerful rally would normally create heavy losses during the following correction.
Yet realized losses have remained below previous extremes.
Previous Bear Market Was More Painful
The earlier bear market still holds the record for realized investor losses. Those losses reached approximately $211 billion.
The current cycle has produced about $191 billion in realized losses. That is a substantial figure, but it remains below the previous record.
Several factors may explain the difference.
* More institutional participation
* Growing Bitcoin ETF adoption
* A larger base of long-term holders
* Stronger confidence in Bitcoin as an asset
These factors can reduce selling pressure during major market declines.
A Stronger Investor Base
Bitcoin's investor base has changed significantly in recent years. Institutions now play a larger role in the market.
Spot ETFs have also made Bitcoin easier to access through traditional investment accounts. Meanwhile, long-term holders continue to control a significant share of the supply.
This combination can create a more resilient market structure. Investors may be less willing to sell during sharp corrections.
That does not mean Bitcoin has become immune to large declines. Its price can still experience severe volatility.
However, the realized-loss data suggests the current downturn may be less destructive than the previous cycle.
If July 1 proves to be the cycle bottom, this trend could become even more important. It would suggest Bitcoin absorbed a major correction without reaching the extreme levels of investor capitulation seen before.

September 10, 2026 00:02Bitcoin Retests Key Support as Oil Surges Toward $100
Bitcoin is once again testing a major support level near $78,300. The move comes as oil prices surge amid renewed Middle East tensions.
WTI crude climbed to $99 per barrel. That marked its highest level since June 8. Brent crude also moved close to $100 for the first time since July 24.
The rise in energy prices has increased pressure across financial markets. U.S. stocks declined as investors reacted to the latest geopolitical developments.
Treasury yields also moved higher. The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield reached 4.79%.
Oil Prices Raise Inflation Concerns
Higher energy costs could strengthen inflation expectations. This creates additional uncertainty ahead of Friday's CPI report.
A stronger inflation reading could affect expectations for monetary policy. It could also increase pressure on risk assets, including Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is now facing an important technical test. Analysts are watching whether buyers can defend the current support zone.
A Pattern Similar to May
Crypto analyst Rekt Capital has highlighted similarities with Bitcoin's failed breakout in May.
At that time, BTC briefly climbed to around $82,800. The rally then lost momentum.
Bitcoin subsequently stabilized near $78,300. The market later suffered a much deeper decline toward $57,000.
The current retest of $78,300 therefore carries significant importance.
If the support level breaks, Bitcoin could establish another lower high. Such a move would extend a bearish structure that has developed since October 2025.
That would provide stronger confirmation of a bear market in 2026.
For now, traders are focused on two major catalysts. Oil prices and Friday's CPI report could shape broader risk sentiment.
Bitcoin's ability to hold $78,300 may determine whether the current decline remains contained. A decisive breakdown could significantly worsen the market outlook.

September 10, 2026 00:03ARK Invest Says Bitcoin Should Be Held for Decades
Cathie Wood remains strongly bullish on Bitcoin's long-term potential. The ARK Invest CEO believes the cryptocurrency should be treated as a long-term asset.
ARK Invest plans to hold its Bitcoin exposure for decades. Wood expects the asset to appreciate significantly over time.
She also views Bitcoin as a potential hedge against inflation. Her argument is based partly on Bitcoin's growing similarities with gold.
Bitcoin and gold often attract demand during periods of economic uncertainty. Investors may turn to both assets when concerns about fiat currencies increase.
Rising government debt is another important factor. Growing debt levels can raise concerns about the future purchasing power of traditional currencies.
Bitcoin, however, has several characteristics that distinguish it from gold:
* Its maximum supply is capped at 21 million coins.
* Bitcoin's halving events reduce new supply entering the market.
* Institutional investment in Bitcoin continues to expand.
* Global demand comes from both companies and individual investors.
Wood believes these factors could support Bitcoin's price over the long term. She argues that limited supply could become increasingly important as adoption grows.
Bitcoin's supply schedule also gives it some similarities with precious metals. The final Bitcoin is expected to be mined around 2140.
Gold and silver also have finite supplies. Their scarcity has helped establish them as long-term stores of value.
Wood is also watching U.S. cryptocurrency regulation closely. She hopes the CLARITY Act will eventually become law.
In her view, clearer regulations could encourage more companies to enter the Bitcoin market. Greater corporate demand could then create additional upward pressure on the price.
Wood has previously suggested an ambitious long-term target. She believes Bitcoin could eventually reach $1 million per coin.
At the same time, Wood expects Bitcoin to become less volatile as the market matures. Growing institutional participation could help reduce extreme price swings.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs could also contribute to this development. These products have made Bitcoin easier for traditional investors to access.
For ARK Invest, the strategy is therefore based on patience. Wood believes Bitcoin's strongest potential may emerge over decades rather than months.

September 10, 2026 00:04First U.S. ETF Offering TRX Staking Set to Begin Trading
A new U.S. exchange-traded fund is set to bring TRX staking to American investors.
The Canary Staked TRX ETF is scheduled to begin trading on September 9. The fund will trade on Cboe BZX Exchange under the ticker TRXS.
The ETF will charge an annual management fee of 1.10%. Tron founder Justin Sun confirmed the fee.
The fund will generate additional returns through TRX staking. At least 90% of the trust's TRX holdings are expected to be staked.
How the staking income works
Investors will not receive staking rewards as separate cash payments. Instead, the rewards will increase the amount of TRX represented by each fund share.
This mechanism can increase the value of the shares over time. It also gives investors indirect exposure to staking returns.
However, the structure has several potential drawbacks:
* Unstaking can take time.
* The fund depends on external staking providers.
* Staking rewards may be shared with service providers.
* Investors do not receive the rewards directly.
TRX remains one of the largest crypto assets
TRX has a market capitalization of approximately $32.2 billion. According to CoinGecko, it ranks eighth among cryptocurrencies by market value.
The ETF launch gives U.S. investors another way to gain regulated market exposure to TRX. It also expands the growing range of crypto investment products available through traditional exchanges.
Canary Capital has been expanding its presence in the digital asset market. The investment firm focuses on cryptocurrencies and blockchain projects.
Over the past year, it has launched several crypto ETFs. Those products include funds linked to HBAR, Litecoin, and XRP.
The company first filed for a TRX staking ETF with the SEC in April 2025. Since then, Canary Capital has submitted applications for several other crypto-related funds.
Its proposals have included ETFs linked to PEPE, MOG, PENGU, and AXL. The firm also disclosed plans for an ETF tied to the TRUMP memecoin.
However, regulatory filings do not guarantee a market launch. Each proposed fund still depends on regulatory approval and other conditions.
The TRX ETF could nevertheless mark an important step for crypto investment products. It combines traditional ETF access with staking exposure in a single vehicle.

September 10, 2026 00:05Bitcoin’s Current Cycle Looks Different From Previous Ones
Bitcoin's current market cycle is showing a different pattern. Analysts at market maker Wintermute point to stronger demand from large investors.
The latest drawdown is also much smaller than in previous cycles. Bitcoin is now around 50% below its record high of $126,000.
This level was reached roughly 340 days ago. At a similar stage in the 2018 and 2022 cycles, Bitcoin had fallen by more than 75%.
The size of Bitcoin's drawdowns has gradually decreased over time. Previous cycles saw declines of about 83% and 77%. The current correction has reached roughly 50%.
Institutional demand may explain part of this change. Large investors and exchange-traded funds entered the market earlier this time.
Bitcoin ETFs Continue to Attract Capital
Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded another week of net inflows. The funds attracted approximately $987 million over the past week.
It was the third consecutive week of positive inflows. Ethereum ETFs showed weaker demand during the same period.
Ethereum funds attracted $215 million last week. That compares with $816 million during the previous week.
Wintermute also sees potential capital rotation between traditional markets and crypto. Slower stock market performance could encourage some investors to seek alternative assets.
Key Levels and Upcoming Risks
Bitcoin still faces a major technical barrier near $82,000. A sustained move above $82,000 to $83,000 could strengthen the bullish outlook.
However, Wintermute is not ready to confirm that the June low was the final bottom. The market could still face another significant correction.
Several upcoming events could influence investor sentiment. U.S. inflation data is due on September 11.
The Federal Reserve will also hold its next policy meeting on September 15-16. Changes in interest-rate expectations could affect demand for risk assets.
CryptoQuant analysts have highlighted another important factor. Bitcoin needs stronger spot-market buying to maintain its upward momentum.
For now, the market remains at a critical point. Strong institutional flows could support Bitcoin's recovery.
A failure to reclaim the $82,000-$83,000 zone could keep the broader market structure under pressure.
